To see Jesus as the “ultimate nice guy” serves as a stumbling block in our discipleship. We preach Christ crucified: bloodied, beaten, coarse, and raw, rudely thrown up on the mean and cruel execution device of the Roman Legions. We must learn to be like Christ through His Cross and our crosses as well.

Pope Francis says in "Gaudete et Exsultate" that you (yes, YOU), are called to be a saint. But how? By not being bland, by not relying on yourself, and by remembering the saints.
